Brothers Hendrik and Steffen Kroes have been in charge of Hotel am Kloster since May 2006. Their careers feature classic hotel managing training. For the older brother Hendrik, it all started with an apprenticeship in the Ringhotel am Stadtpark in Lünen in 1996. Later followed by a professional education as a cook, he soon found himself in such prestigious gourmet restaurants as the La Forge, gaining further insights and experiences in the field of gastronomy.
He then successfully qualified for hotel business economist in Dortmund. During his course of studies, he would still work as a cook at Hotel Ickhorn in Werne, which is run by his uncle Franz Kroes.
Three years younger Steffen finished his job training at Relais & Châteaux Hotel Schloss Wilkinghege in Münster. Subsequently he would gather more experience at the reception desk of Leading Small Hotels of the World Hotel Louis C. Jacob in Hamburg, as well as in the banquet department of hotel Steigenberger Remarque in Osnabrück.
In October 2005, he joined his meanwhile self-employed brother at his own Hotel Scho, who had run the business with his associate Anke Schwert for three years already.
The brothers' distinct carreers complement each other perfectly: Whereas Hendrik has focused on catering and operational business, Steffen feels responsible for lodging and marketing. Together with the team they pursue one aim: "We now wish to be good hosts to all the people of Werne, and those who would like to experience Hotel am Kloster."
With support from their families and team, great effort is put in reviving a part of the city's history, polishing it to new effulgence.
Their guests are as manifold as their concept.

The town is attractive and appealing, with its own special character. Its location, its variety and its traditions make Werne a typical town of the Münsterland area, which is known for the beauty of its landscape and as a wonderful place to live.
About 32500 inhabitants live in the town, which is a popular recreational place of relaxation away from the big cities. Today it is water that is the most important influence on the town, where until 1975 about 4000 people worked in coal mining. The shores of the lake in the Town Park and the banks of the river Lippe are ideal for walking and cycling. A very popular meeting place is the swimming complex with its natural salt water, which has extensive space around the outdoor and indoor pools. Werne's most well-known festival is the Simon-Judah-Fair, which dates back to 1362 when Werne was first given the right to hold a market. Today the Simon-Judah-Fair welcomes up to 400000 visitors each autumn and is the biggest festival in the lip area. The town also offers a wide variety of arts and culture. The performances in the openair theatre enchant their audiences, as do the changing exhibitions in the Town Museum.
